I
grew up in Westport, Connecticut and graduated Staples
High School. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree
from the George Washington University in Washington,
D.C. I worked as a computer programmer and database
administrator for over 10 years in New York City and
Connecticut.
As
anyone with a "desk job" can testify to,
8 to 10 hours a day in front of a computer left
me slouching and with nagging backaches.
Wanting
to change my posture, I went to a chiropractor, but
didn't experience lasting improvements from these
treatments. My chiropractor said Rolfing was the answer
if I wanted permanent change. So in 1999, I received
my first 10-session series of Rolfing Structural Integration.
This experience was the beginning of my journey back
into my body. It both pushed my physical limits and,
unexpectedly, helped me cross other personal thresholds.
In
2000, I attended the Connecticut Center for Massage
Therapy in Westport, where I was inspired to change
careers to a helping profession. In 2003, I attended
the Rolf Institute in Boulder, Colorado, and Sydney,
Australia, receiving my certification in Rolfing
Structural Integration.
Since
graduation from the Rolf Institute, I have taken workshops
in the Rossiter Technique and continuing education
workshops by Rolfer Liz Gaggini. I also take pilates
and yoga and recommend these practices to all my clients.
